These TikTok Integration Terms and Conditions ("TikTok Terms") govern your use of the optional TikTok integration within the SwiftPlus school management platform. By connecting your TikTok account to SwiftPlus or using the integration to share content, you agree to these TikTok Terms.

These TikTok Terms are supplementary to our main Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. If there is any conflict between these TikTok Terms and our main Terms, these TikTok Terms prevail with respect to the TikTok integration specifically. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meaning given in our main Terms.

If you have any questions, contact us at support@swiftplus.app.

What Is the TikTok Integration?

SwiftPlus offers an optional TikTok integration that allows authorised school staff - such as teachers, communications officers, and administrators - to share educational content directly from SwiftPlus to their school's or their own TikTok account. This feature is designed to help schools showcase student achievements, classroom activities, school events, and educational content to the wider community.

The integration is entirely opt-in. No data is shared with TikTok unless you explicitly choose to connect a TikTok account and publish content through SwiftPlus. You can use all other SwiftPlus features without ever connecting TikTok.

Important: This integration connects to TikTok accounts that you control. SwiftPlus is not responsible for the content you choose to publish, and you must ensure you have all necessary permissions - including parental or guardian consent where students are identifiable - before sharing any content.

Eligibility

To use the TikTok integration, you must:

Be an authorised SwiftPlus user (a staff member at a school with an active SwiftPlus subscription).
Have a valid TikTok account in good standing.
Be at least 18 years old (as required by both SwiftPlus and TikTok's terms).
Have permission from your school administration to post content on behalf of the school, if you are posting to a school-affiliated TikTok account.

Your school's SwiftPlus system administrator controls which staff roles have access to the TikTok integration. If you cannot see the integration but believe you should have access, please contact your school administrator.

How the Integration Works

Connecting Your TikTok Account

To connect your TikTok account to SwiftPlus, you will be redirected to TikTok's official login page where you authorise SwiftPlus to post on your behalf. This uses TikTok's OAuth 2.0 authorisation framework - an industry-standard protocol that allows you to grant limited access to your TikTok account without sharing your password.

When you authorise the connection:

TikTok provides SwiftPlus with an access token - a revocable digital key that allows SwiftPlus to publish content to your TikTok account on your behalf.
SwiftPlus never sees, receives, or stores your TikTok password. Authentication happens entirely on TikTok's servers.
We receive your TikTok username (handle) and display name so we can show you which account is connected within SwiftPlus.
We receive your TikTok avatar (profile picture) for display purposes within the SwiftPlus dashboard.

Posting Content

Once connected, authorised users can compose and publish posts (text, images, or video) from within SwiftPlus. When you publish:

The content you have explicitly composed and chosen to share is sent to TikTok's servers via TikTok's API.
The post appears on your TikTok profile under your account, as if you had posted it directly through the TikTok app.
SwiftPlus records the TikTok post ID for your reference so you can track which posts were made through the platform.

You retain full control over the content you publish. You can edit or delete posts directly through TikTok at any time, independently of SwiftPlus.

What Data Is Shared with TikTok

We limit data sharing with TikTok to the minimum necessary for the integration to function. The following data is shared only when you take an explicit action:

Content you choose to publish: The text, images, or videos you explicitly compose and select for publishing. You control what gets shared - nothing is posted automatically.
OAuth access token: Transmitted to TikTok's API to authenticate each publishing request. This token is stored securely and transmitted over encrypted connections.

What Data Is NOT Shared with TikTok

To be absolutely clear, the following data is never shared with TikTok through the SwiftPlus integration:

Student personal data: Names, dates of birth, academic records, assessment results, attendance data, fee information, or any other student records stored in SwiftPlus.
Staff personal data: Staff contact details, login credentials, or employment records beyond the TikTok account information you voluntarily connect.
School administrative data: Financial records, internal communications, or operational data.
Browsing behaviour: We do not use TikTok's advertising SDK, tracking pixels, or analytics tools within SwiftPlus. Your activity within SwiftPlus is not tracked or reported to TikTok.
Your TikTok password: As noted above, authentication happens through TikTok's OAuth system - we never receive or store your password.

Your Responsibilities When Using the Integration

When you use the TikTok integration to publish content, you are responsible for ensuring that:

You have the right to share the content: This includes having obtained necessary permissions from your school administration and, where students are identifiable in photos or videos, appropriate parental or guardian consent as required by your school's policies and applicable law (such as Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act).
Content is appropriate: Content must comply with our main Terms and Conditions (including the Acceptable Use section), TikTok's Terms of Service, and TikTok's Community Guidelines.
You do not share sensitive personal data: Never include student names, contact details, academic records, health information, or other personal data in TikTok posts. Even if you have consent, consider whether sharing is necessary and appropriate.
You respect intellectual property rights: Do not post copyrighted material (such as music, images, or video clips) unless you have the necessary licence or permission.
Content is consistent with your school's values: Posts should reflect positively on your school and the SwiftPlus community.

SwiftPlus is not responsible for content you publish through the TikTok integration. You - and your school - bear full responsibility for ensuring that all shared content complies with applicable laws, school policies, and third-party platform terms.

TikTok's Terms and Policies

Your use of TikTok - whether through SwiftPlus or directly - is also governed by TikTok's own terms and policies. We encourage you to review them:

TikTok is a third-party platform. SwiftPlus has no control over TikTok's policies, features, or availability. If TikTok changes its API, terms, or policies in a way that affects the integration, we will make reasonable efforts to adapt, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted functionality.

Disconnecting Your TikTok Account

You can disconnect your TikTok account from SwiftPlus at any time. There are two ways to do this:

Through SwiftPlus: Go to your SwiftPlus settings or the social media management section and select "Disconnect TikTok." This immediately revokes SwiftPlus's ability to post to your TikTok account.
Through TikTok: Go to your TikTok account settings → "Security and permissions" → "Apps and services" → find SwiftPlus → select "Remove access." This also immediately revokes our access.

Once disconnected:

SwiftPlus can no longer post to your TikTok account.
Posts you previously published through SwiftPlus remain on your TikTok profile (they belong to you, not to SwiftPlus). You can delete them directly through TikTok if you wish.
We delete the stored OAuth access token from our systems. We retain a record that your account was previously connected (the TikTok username and the dates of connection) for audit purposes, but no active credentials are kept.

If you leave your school or your SwiftPlus account is deactivated, your TikTok connection is automatically terminated as part of the account deactivation process.

Intellectual Property

Content you create and publish through the TikTok integration belongs to you (or your school, depending on your employment terms). SwiftPlus does not claim ownership of content you publish to TikTok.

By publishing through SwiftPlus, you grant SwiftPlus a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display the content within the SwiftPlus platform (such as in your publishing history) solely for the purpose of providing the integration service to you. This licence ends when you disconnect your TikTok account.

SwiftPlus's trademarks, logos, and branding may not be used in TikTok posts in a way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation without our prior written consent.

Service Availability and Limitations

The TikTok integration is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that:

The integration will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Posts will always be published successfully or within a specific timeframe.
TikTok will not remove, restrict, or moderate content you publish (this is governed by TikTok's own policies).

We reserve the right to suspend or discontinue the TikTok integration at any time. If we do, we will notify affected users in advance whenever reasonably possible.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SwiftPlus shall not be liable for:

Content you choose to publish through the TikTok integration, including any legal claims arising from that content (such as defamation, privacy violations, or intellectual property infringement).
Actions taken by TikTok with respect to your account or content, including content removal, account suspension, or termination.
Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the TikTok integration.
Data breaches or security incidents on TikTok's platform or within TikTok's systems.
Changes to TikTok's API, terms, or policies that affect the integration's functionality.

This limitation of liability supplements - and does not replace - the limitation of liability in our main Terms and Conditions.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold SwiftPlus, its affiliates, and team members harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) that arise from:

Content you publish through the TikTok integration.
Your violation of these TikTok Terms, TikTok's own terms, or applicable law.
Your failure to obtain necessary consents (such as parental consent for identifiable students).
Infringement of third-party intellectual property rights through content you publish.

Changes to These TikTok Terms

We may update these TikTok Terms from time to time - for example, if TikTok changes its API or policies, or if we add new features to the integration. When we make changes, we will notify you by:

Email (to the address associated with your SwiftPlus account).
An in-app notification within SwiftPlus.
Updating the "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page.

Changes take effect 14 days after notification. If you continue using the TikTok integration after the changes take effect, you agree to the updated TikTok Terms. If you do not agree, you can disconnect your TikTok account before the changes take effect.

Governing Law

These TikTok Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda, consistent with our main Terms and Conditions. Any disputes arising from these TikTok Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Uganda.
